Welding Laboratory
Aptech Engineering Services, Inc. has been acquired by
Intertek USA, Inc. Please visit us atwww.intertek.com/aptech.
Our in-house laboratory facilities include equipment
needed to prepare, examine and test evidence and exemplars. We have examination
and testing instrumentation, a machine shop, welding shop, and evidence
storage room.
Our instrumentation includes a scanning electron microscope,
metallurgical microscope (metallograph), materials testing machine, fatigue
test machine and portable alloy analyzer. We also run small-scale
combustion tests on fuels believed responsible for fires and explosions.

Chemicals handling
Our machine shop is equipped to remove and prepare
metallurgical samples from failed components. We can also build
custom fixtures and devices to assist in our forensic testing.
Machine shop
For dynamic
testing, we design and assemble PC-based instrumentation and
data acquisition systems. Typical temporally monitored data include
temperature, pressure, strain and cycles.
Mechanical testing station
To augment our in-house laboratory
facilities, we take advantage of the vast array of scientific service
firms here in Silicon
Valley. We have access to every kind of analysis equipment that may
be necessary for our failure investigations, such as radiography,
chemical analysis, transmission electron microscopy, microanalytical
testing and FTIR spectroscopy.
